The Islamic Centre of UMK was appointed as Amil Zakat Harta by Council of The Religion of Islamic and Malay Custom of Kelantan (MAIK) on 1 March 2017. The Islamic Centre has the role of managing zakat contributions from external agencies (corporate zakat), staff’s zakat payment matters, wa’ad zakat and zakat distribution to asnaf.

Among the services provided by the Islamic Center to UMK staff is the calculation of zakat on property and managing zakat payments in cash or through monthly salary deductions.

For staff who make zakat payments of RM1,000 and above within a year, the Islamic Centre will make an application to MAIK to distribute 25% of the zakat with the consent of the staff to be distributed to students and staff in the asnaf category at UMK in the form of monthly allowance and one-off basis .

UMK staff, the community and the corporate sector are welcome to pay property zakat or contribute corporate zakat to the Islamic Center of UMK to help the asnaf at UMK especially students for living on campus.
